Art Applied: Defying The Norm is a fictional exhibition held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The target audience for this exhibition are artists, students, and the general public; assuming that the audience has at least a basic knowledge of art history. This exhibit will display the prominent and prolific works of three artists who have courageously pushed their own personal styles within their respective industries and found legendary success. Each of these individuals picked up their unique artistic styles and applied it as they saw fit to graphic design, comic book publishing, and filmmaking.
I chose these artists because I am a fan of each of them. Alphonse Muhca's work aimed to enrich life, thus his contribution to Art Nouveau. Todd McFarlane is an entrepreneur pushing "creator-owned" rights that will benefit all small-businesses and entrepreneurs. Ken Burns' life work is focused on the accurate retelling of national history in a uniquely expressive way.
Labor Day Weekend:
Labor Day is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. This day would be a fitting time to honor these artists.
